Island Biologyは2014年にハワイで第1回大会が開催され、主要な島嶼フィールドに数十カ国から研究者が集い、交流を深めてきました。5回目の今回は初のアジア開催となります。 https://islandbiology.com/about/

このIsland Biology 2026のロゴは佐渡研究室出身のZhang Ruiqiさんに作成していただきました。以下、作品のコメントです。
「本ロゴでは、島嶼生物学を地形地史と代表生物の組み合わせで表現しました。爬虫類を代表するオカダトカゲ、ヤブツバキとの送粉生態系で有名なシチトウメジロを中心に、周囲にミクラミヤマクワガタとシモダマイマイを配置することで固有種の生物多様性を表しています。背景に伊豆大島(カルデラが特徴)と富士山を配置して、エクスカーションの予定地と開催地の熱海(富士山の麓)も表現しています。」
This IslandBiology 2026 logo was created by Zhang Ruiqi. The following is the artist’s comment on the work.
In this logo, island biogeography is represented through a combination of landforms, geological history, and representative organisms. The Okada’s five-lined skink (Plestiodon latiscutatus), representing reptiles, and the Izu Islands white-eye (Zosterops japonicus insularis), well known for its pollination relationship with Camellia japonica, are placed at the center. Around them, the endemic Mikura stag beetle (Lucanus gamunus) and the Japanese land snail (Euhadra peliomphala simodae) are arranged to symbolize the unique biodiversity of the islands. In the background, Izu Oshima—with its characteristic caldera—and Mt. Fuji are depicted, representing both the planned excursion site and Atami, the conference venue located at the foot of Mt. Fuji.
